Biblical Reminders of God's Love

Keeping my eyes on God especially in my darkest hours hasn’t been easy and it became even harder when I lost my hair. Worry and stress were the highlight's of my day but through my road to healing, I was able to regain focus and turn to God’s word for comfort and guidance. I

have a notebook where I made an “Agreement with God” with the heading “Who I am in

Christ” where I studied and recorded bible versus that were in alignment with his truth of how he viewed me and how I should view myself. Feeling less than has been replaced with the understanding that I am a woman filled with God’s grace. I am a person worthy of love and one who can share her love with others. With the knowing that I am made in his image, I can walk with my head held high because I know that I am not alone. I remembered as I was writing out these scriptures that my focus shouldn’t be so consumed by my hair loss or things out of my hands, but a reminder that life isn’t a straight path but through my faith I can process and overcome the unexpected. Below I share his words that has given me strength, unconditional love, and focus that helps me weather through anxiety and worry while learning to trust the process. I hope you find comfort in some of these truths also. Anxiety and Worry This is a continuous work in progress because I don’t like not being in control, but life doesn’t afford us that luxury so to combat it I refer to: Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Psalm 34:17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. 2 Timothy 1:7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. 1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Strength

Being independent is something I pride myself on, but I know that I cannot do anything without relying on God. It is through his strength I find guidance and energy to press forward.

Exodus 15:2 The Lord is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him. 1 Chronicles 16:11 Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through him who gives me strengthen. Psalm 59:16 But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. Love

Love is something I lacked for myself and in turn didn't know how to show it to others, until I

realized how much God loves me. I know that I am not an accident and neither are you. We were placed in this moment for his divine purpose and glory so be reminded of his grace through his words found in:

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you and help you with my righteous right hand. Zephaniah 3:17 The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing. 1 John 4:16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

Focus This one is a tough one for me because I know that what I think can manifest into truth even when I know it's a lie. Therefore, it is very important to be mindful of your thoughts as they can be manifested through behaviours, good or bad. So choose to set your mind on the good and put your thoughts into positive action.

Philippians 4: 8-9 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me - put into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. Colossians 3:2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Proverbs 4:25 Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Matthew 6:33 But seek first this kingdom and his righteousness, and all things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Trust

Trusting God especially when we don't understand takes patience and practice. I am the type of person that wants immediate results but God does not operate on our schedule. His timing is always perfect and he is never late. Trusting him rather than ourself will lead to peace that the world cannot give.

Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Mark 11:24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Psalm 9:10

Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. Fear I remember the fear and intimidation I felt before I decided to go public with my alopecia. I remember when I hit publish for my blog to go live and I remember that sinking feeling of my first bald head picture posted on Instagram. In the midst of it all, I know that God was with me because there was an odd sense of peace after I hit that "enter" key. A small voice telling me it's ok you got this...we got this. For me, fear is my mind telling me that I am not capable but when I turn to scripture his words are quit the opposite.

2 Timothy 1:7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. Psalm 34:4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not fear be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. Speech

The tongue is a small but mighty device that can uplift or tear down. I know the negative effects of self deprecation and how my words can hurt others because I may be experiencing hurt also. Thus, how you speak to yourself and to others should be words that promote peace, kindness and encouragement.

Proverbs 16:24 Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. Psalm 141:3 Set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips. Psalm 19:14 May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. Ephesians 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Gratitude
